Our flesh is a journal in a way. Where every tattoo tells a story, leaving a personalized mark that reminds us of a specific time in one’s life. It makes it a true home and a fit temple for the spirit that dwells inside it. Therefore, tattoos are a way of keeping the spiritual and material needs of the body in balance.
Known on Earth as Johnny Berrios, he grew up in Connecticut, and from very young he was always influenced by art. Life changed one cloudy New England afternoon when his older brother came up with the idea of tattooing. Johnny dove in head first but struggled with little help and no experience. Then in 2004, Sean O’Hara gave him the opportunity to work aside Nick Baxter, Lou Jacque, Nick Trammel and a few other guys at Darkside Tattoo. There, he picked up various techniques on how to use colors and to be more creative with the art of tattooing. Soon after, Johnny got a chance to work for a new shop in Massachusetts called Off the Map, owned by Gabe Ripley, and got to be around a lot of great artists, allowing him to continue to grow and do a lot of traveling. Not long after that, he expanded into oil painting to keep progressing in his art.
In 2010, Johnny decided he had had enough of them grey skies, so he moved to the sunshine state to the great city of Orlando with his family. When he finally got the job at Ascension Tattoo, he knew Orlando and Ascension were his home.
