Styles: Color Realism, Illustrative
Greetings and salutations.
My name is Zac Adkins. I’d like to start by saying that if you are reading this bio, you’re going about getting a tattoo all wrong! You should be looking through the gallery right now, because what it really comes down to when looking to get a tattoo is this: Do you like my art?
However, if you would like to know a little more about me and why I work here at Ascension then read on…
Even at an early age, I’ve sought to express myself through my creative endeavors. From the time I was coloring with crayons in diapers, until I was painting in oils as a high school student, I always enjoyed the act of dreaming up and creating art. I always knew I was going to make a life as an artist, I just wasn’t entirely sure how. After high school and a brief trial at college, I was stuck in that sort of career limbo where I couldn’t really figure out what I wanted to do with my life or how I was going to make a living. Then one day I was told I should take one of my sketchbooks to Nightbreed Tattooing, a tattoo shop in Chillicothe, Ohio, by my mom, who had recently gotten a tattoo there. The next day, I showed the owner my drawings and he offered to apprentice me as a tattooist.
Since then I have focused most of my time and energy trying to perfect this craft that I have come to love. Tattooing has been simultaneously one of the hardest and most rewarding mediums that I have worked with, and I feel privileged to have found a career doing something that I love and to be able to create living breathing art.
